TripAdvisor recently commissioned me to write 5 walking tours of Kuala Lumpur:

2. Kuala Lumpur Culture & Arts Tour
3. Kuala Lumpur Photographers Walking Tour
4. Eatery Walking Tour in Kuala Lumpur
5. Kuala Lumpur Walking Tour for Families

These tours can be downloaded into iPhones and Androids which makes it easy for the traveller to refer when on the road.


Writing these tours for TripAdvisor is the closest I've got to achieving my travel bucket list of writing a travel article and getting it published. Along the way I learnt that TripAdvisor is actually a public listed company on Nasdaq, how cool is that!

I Wrote a Book!

Another one of my writing endeavour is out!

This time it's a children's book titled Great Expectations - Opening Up A Whole New World of Ambition.

The book contains 80 careers to help kids explore the wide world of careers. It was distributed at the Smart Kids Education Fair that was held at the Putra World Trade Centre last weekend.

I've laboured hard to finish this book and here it is:

The book contains interesting graphics printed on thick glossy paper. But I didn't design the pages; I only did the writing :-)

Writing Endeavour Revealed

I mentioned in my entry titled My Latest Endeavour - Freelance Writing that I will reveal the mag I'm working with when it hits the newstands. Well, here it is:

I was at Times Bookstore this afternoon to get the January issue of Female mag. And to my surprise Cosmetic Surgery & Beauty mag was on the newstands as well, fresh from the press.

I quickly turned to the Editorial section and heaved a sigh of achievement to see my name in print.

I'll scan all the articles I wrote for this issue soon and post 'em on this blog.

More Freelance Work

Recently I received another writing project that will take up most of my free time till February next year.

I need to write 82 articles on various careers, each article about 350 - 500 words. Target audience: kids between 9 - 13 years old.

Apart from my 82 articles, there are a few other writers working concurrently on other career articles. All the articles will be compiled into a book and distributed at a fair in March next year. More on that in this blog when the book is out.

This will be the first time I'm writing for kids and I keep reminding myself that the language has to be simple. The Editor had also told me that the articles have to be "chatty and informative". This is sometimes easier said than done - Try explaining what an Actuary does in simple language.

So if you're wondering why my blog entries have dwindled in number recently, it's because of this new project. In fact, when I agreed to do the 82 articles, I've signed away my afterwork activities - Aloha, Hard Rock Cafe and the movies, at least till February ...

My Latest Endeavour - Freelance Writing

I've been doing some freelance writing for a local magazine.

I can't tell you which magazine or topics I'm working on, in case the Editor might not like me blogging about pre-published articles for the December issue. I got this job through networking and I hope my full-time job boss isn't reading this :-)

I've been assigned to do 4 company reviews, 500 words each. Apart from that I have to complete a 1,500 feature article.

Freelance writing is interesting cause I get to meet people and earn money at the same time. I hope this job will be the begining of many more freelance jobs to come cause I love writing.

I'll post an entry in this blog when my articles get published :-)
