Moving Office

Sorry for the silence. I was busy moving office.

Now let me tell you something about moving an entire organisation from one location to another - it's a total bitch that takes up lots of time and energy. But Management always insist it has to be done for the progress of the company, for a more condusive working environment, for branding, blah, blah, blah ...

Moving office was also a crash course in PC hardware - we had to dismantle our PCs for the movers to pack. And we had to assemble it back on our own at the new office. For people like me who can never tell the difference between one cable to the next port, taking photos was the best option.

And just before we bid farewell to the old office, all staff were to place their phones in a common area - my cubicle. So my last memory of my cubicle looked like this:

And after all the boxes and stuff have been moved to the brand new building, unpacking was another bitch.

I plan to keep my brand new ergonomic chair wrapped in its plastic sheet for as long as I can. I wanna be like the Chinamen who never seem to remove the plastic sheets from the seats of their brand new car.

I thought the jar with the red lid had sweets in it, then I saw....rubber stamps???

I envy that you have an ergonomic chair. I might buy myself one of those balls fitballs instead..cheaper mah.

Hahahah, the rubber stamps in the red lid plastic jar belongs to my colleague! I never noticed it until you pointed it out :-)

I know how you feel. My office shifted last year too. Luckily we had professional movers who did everything for us - so my phone and laptop was already fixed up the first day I entered my new office.

However, I had to pack and unpack all the work-related files and personal stuff. The kind of work I do contains the most documentation, so I had 30 boxes of work-related files alone! Unpacking them and sorting them out is another chore!

Juphelia,

30 boxes of work-related files is super many! I hope you didn't attempt to do them all by yourself?

Unfortunately I had to pack and unpack them on my own as my boss and I are the only ones taking charge of those files and we had no one else to help us. So I had to do the packing and unpacking.

It's not as bad as when my previous company was undergoing renovation. Then just about everyone's files were in the two storage rooms and no one wanted to claim them so I ended up clearing two storage rooms on my own. Worse was everyone else just dumped their files on me as if I was some kind of rubbish dump! Yet when the storage rooms were cleaned out and renovated the other departments wanted to be the first to lay claim to the rooms to keep their files and data! No form of appreciation at all!
